Nomination Year: 1998
SYNOPSIS: Despite what the cover copy implies, the real plot of this film involves the kidnapping of a U.S. Olympic women's gymnastic team. Terrorists hold the ladies for ransom and even manage to accidentally kill one with a drug overdose. While those on the outside ineffectively dither about the ransom, the three girls who are left make several escape attempts which fail miserably. Eventually, (with some outside help) they get hold of a gun and escape their bumbling abductors. At no time do they form or even resemble an elite fighting force.
