Plutonium Baby (1987)

Nomination Year: 1999
SYNOPSIS:  This is a movie in two pieces.

In the first half, Danny is born. He is the Plutonium Baby, born from a mother deformed because of all the local radioactive contamination. He is discovered by a bunch of teens in the woods on a make-out session. Crazed mutant radioactive creatures are attacking, and the government acts to destroy them. In the process Danny's dad and some of the teens are killed.

In the second half of the movie, Danny is all grown up, and living in the city. He turns into a radioactive monster, and his killing spree begins.

Oblivious

"Quit It, I'm on the Phone!"
Wendy makes a phone call, but doesn't bother to turn toward the killer who is right behind her making noise.

Stupidest-Looking Monster

One Dumb Radioactive Mutant Bunny
The deformed thing attacks. It's a radioactive mutant bunny. A really dumb-looking radioactive mutant bunny.

Smithee Award Winner! Best One-Liner

Bad Movie, Bad Attitude
After the guy bitten by the radioactive critter gives a list of legitimate objections and says he feels like he's in a Bad Movie (guess what?), Wendy says, "I think you're looking at everything with a negative attitude."

Worst Cover Copy

Be Nice To Him...or He'll Tell His Mummy
The cover says, "Be nice to him...or he'll tell his mommy." Then it goes on to say "Danny's mother died in childbirth."

Acting Appropriately Stupid

"Oh, There's Nothing in There. Just an Old Top Secret Nuclear Facility."
The kids are looking for a nifty place to camp. But where to go? Hey, what's in there? "Oh, there's nothing in there. Just an old Top Secret nuclear facility." That's great, that means it'll be unoccupied....

Worst Special Effect

Is That Ketchup?
Ow. He hit his head on the blood pack that must've been lying on that rock.
