Precious Find  (1996)
Nomination Year: 2003
SYNOPSIS: After winning a map to an asteroid mine in a poker game, Rutger Hauer recruits a band of unlikely prospectors to go hunt for gold (which they call "Precious," presumably because they read the movie's title) [Or maybe they're avid Tolkien fans... -B.]. On the way, they encounter claim jumpers, supply shortages, and bad weather. Bad weather? You'll see.

"WHAT?!"
Solar Twister: Left Hand Sun! Right Foot Desert!
The miners are all walking along in the desert, when all of a sudden (really, for no reason whatsoever) someone announces: "It's a solar twister!" Some lame special effects follow, and suddenly all the miners are covered with sand. Then the old miner comes out of the sand, spots something (gold, presumably), and starts shaking, dancing, and yelling "Precious! Ha ha ha! Precious!"
