... but do you recall ...
the most famous Man-eater of all?

Actually, I've named all of them except the minor character "Mac" and the MacGuffin character "Honeypot," so it's OK if you don't....

The film is not so much a narrative as a series of vignettes. A biker chick gets too fixated on a particular stud. A male gang tries to muscle in on The Man-eaters' territory. A newbie Man-eater is initiated into the gang. That sort of thing.

When presented with a movie like this, the director has two options. Use actors who may or may not be able to ride bikes. Use bikers who may or may not be able act. H.G. Lewis chose the latter. For the most part, this works in his favor, as it does give the film an almost-eerily banal sense of reality. The one mistake is the leader of the Man-eaters, Queen. She doesn't so much emote as holler. She yells her lines. All of them. All the time. That might be okay if she didn't have such a large role. But ... she does. It kind of enhances the overall realism of the film, if not my enjoyment.

What's That in the Road? A Head?
The Man-Eaters' plan to get revenge on Joe-boy for the abduction and rape of Honeypot is about as subtle as we should expect. Two Man-eaters drive to his gang's hideout on two motorcycles, stick a knife in a tire on his car, and both drive off on one motorcycle. Joe-boy (clearly the brains of his gang) hops on the motorcycle left for him, and follows them down the road. When they pass a certain spot, some Man-eaters hidden in the bushes pull a rope tight across the road. Joe-boy runs right into it and decapitates himself. The Man-eaters then go and kick at his corpse.

Worst Acting
Betty Connell as Queen.
This is as good an example of any of Betty Connell's ubikwytous hollerin' actin' style. "You racin'?! Or watchin'?" she asks romantic rebellious Karen, who has dared to suggest that maybe they just pick men without racin' for 'em.
