Howling III: The Marsupials  (1987)

(Foreign Titles)
Nomination Year: 2012
SYNOPSIS: So there are these were-thylacines, the governments of the world say they're bad (backed up by the Pope -- and yes, this is a Plot Point), and they're hunted nearly to extinction. But a new Pope says they're good, so the world's governments relent (as they always do when the Pope gets involved personally) and the hunting stops ... and now I've given the ending away. But there's an awesome slow-jam cover of "Bad Moon Rising," so the whole thing is worth it.

Changing in a Flash
After being warned that flashing lights can cause a lycanthropic change, the scientist goes and fetches a strobe light -- to see what will happen. Even after being warned by a colleague that it's gone far enough, the scientist continues to shine the strobe light on the screaming, writhing, transforming lycanthrope.
