WEBVTT

00:00:01.930 --> 00:00:03.630
-You okay?
-Ouch. Yes.

00:00:08.660 --> 00:00:13.370
[Needlessly loud jazz]

00:00:14.240 --> 00:00:14.990
Look.

00:00:18.600 --> 00:00:20.500
[Grunts in pain]

00:00:22.820 --> 00:00:24.110
A pencil!

00:00:24.200 --> 00:00:25.550
Right through the center.

00:00:25.760 --> 00:00:29.160
But look -- that pencil isn't piercing that steel.

00:00:29.450 --> 00:00:32.840
There's no wood or graphite
embedded in that piece of metal.

00:00:33.100 --> 00:00:34.420
Within this piece of steel,

00:00:34.520 --> 00:00:37.310
there's an intermingling of atoms --
wherever they touch, they're one.

00:00:37.390 --> 00:00:38.270
You did this?

00:00:39.920 --> 00:00:41.160
Four years ago.

00:00:41.770 --> 00:00:42.940
I admit it was a freak.

00:00:42.990 --> 00:00:45.340
Something happened to my equipment.
I haven't been able to duplicate it since.

00:00:45.390 --> 00:00:46.440
You got any notes on it?

00:00:46.520 --> 00:00:47.450
I did have.

00:00:48.350 --> 00:00:50.420
The fire. But I-I'll tell you something.

00:00:50.880 --> 00:00:53.810
I was working on the theory
of amplifying atomic fields.

00:00:54.680 --> 00:00:57.160
I built myself a-a-a force field.

00:00:57.440 --> 00:01:01.040
But at the <i>moment</i>
when this pencil mingled with the steel,

00:01:01.440 --> 00:01:03.040
my device wasn't affecting them.

00:01:03.960 --> 00:01:05.360
It was affecting me.

00:01:06.190 --> 00:01:07.220
How do you mean?

00:01:09.210 --> 00:01:10.430
I willed it.

00:01:11.940 --> 00:01:12.970
You did what?

00:01:13.570 --> 00:01:14.540
I willed it.

00:01:16.500 --> 00:01:19.410
With your brain? With occult powers?

00:01:20.440 --> 00:01:22.680
Is this why I sent you to school,
to be come a mystic?

00:01:22.830 --> 00:01:25.100
I said to myself it was gonna happen.

00:01:25.660 --> 00:01:27.540
I said it was gonna happen, and it did!

00:01:27.630 --> 00:01:30.780
And your equipment,
your fancy Turn-Lead-Into-Gold Machine?

00:01:31.010 --> 00:01:35.260
It acted as a booster. It boosted my brain waves
to an extent I've never been able to achieve since.

00:01:35.500 --> 00:01:37.650
But at that moment, I <i>willed</i> it!

00:01:39.200 --> 00:01:41.490
Yeaaahhh...

00:01:41.570 --> 00:01:43.100
[Linda continues to look on uselessly]

00:01:43.200 --> 00:01:43.980
[Sighs]
